1.
Purpose.
This
manual
has
two
basic purposes.
It
can"be
used
by
the
operators of existing
and
future
systems
to
supplement
the operation
and
maintenance
(O&M)
information furnished'to
them
on
the
mechanical
elements
in
their
systems.
It
c.an
also
be
used
as
a
guide
for the preparation of future
O&M
manuals.
2. ApplicabilitY.
This
manual
applies
to
all field operating
activities
having
civil
works
design responsibilities.

guidance
for the preparation of
site-specific
operation

maintenance
manuals
for the basic
land
treatment··
systems
used
to
treat
wastewaters,
and
to
supplement
O&M
information already
provided for existing systems.
