Overview
: The Israeli Air Force continued attacking Hamas and Palestinian
Islamic Jihad (PIJ) targets, with tank fire and artillery backup. During the past day about 400
air strikes were carried out. The Palestinian terrorist organizations continued firing rockets at
Israel, but fewer than initially. IDF forces intercepted a UAV launched from the Gaza Strip;
Hamas military-terrorist wing operatives claimed responsibility for launching it.
So far, more than 1,400 civilian and soldier deaths have been reported; 220 civilian and
soldier abductees are still being held by the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. On
the evening of October 23, 2023, two elderly abductees were returned to Israel.
: According to reports, there is a difficult humanitarian situation in the Gaza
Strip. Aid convoys continue to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Crossing.
: Hezbollah terrorist squads continue attacking. The daylight hours
were relatively quiet, but in the evening anti-tank missiles and rockets were fired at Israeli
territory. A house in Kiryat Shemonah was hit and two people were injured. A UAV carrying an
explosive charge was launched from the sea at the Haifa Bay area and intercepted. Hezbollah
reported the deaths of four of its terrorist operatives.
: IDF counterterrorism activities continued. Palestinians suspected of
terrorist activities were detained, most of them Hamas operatives. A senior Hamas terrorist
operative died while in administrative detention. Hamas blamed Israel for his death.
: A meeting was held of the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Turkey and the Caucasian
countries to discuss the developments in the Gaza Strip. The president of Iran said the "crimes
of the Zionist regime in Gaza" and the support of the United States and its Western allies for
Israel should serve as a lesson to all countries in the region. Pro-Iranian militias in Iraq
continued to attack US military bases in Iraq.
