TALOS: Protecting the Operator
at his most vulnerable moment
In FY14, USSOCOM established Joint Acquisition Task Force TALOS (JATF-TALOS) to
develop an advanced combat suit prototype through an innovative acquisition process.
Leveraging an extended network, TALOS will provide increased survivability through:
• Comprehensive ballistic protection
• Increased situational awareness
• Surgical precision and greater lethality
The TALOS roadmap consists of incremental exoskeleton prototypes and sub-system
integration leading to the first article tactical prototype delivery in August 2018.
A Vision for the Future SOF Operator…
TALOS was chartered to explore and catalyze a revolutionary integration of advanced technology to
provide comprehensive ballistic protection, peerless tactical capabilities and ultimately to enhance the
strategic effectiveness of the SOF operator of the future.
