MEMORANDUM FOR:
SUBJECT: Notification of Intent for Reduction in Grade/Rank
1. Reference: NGR 600-200, AR 15-6.
2. Under the provisions of NGR 600-200, Chapter 11, Section XII, this memorandum is forwarded to inform you of
my recommendation to the Reduction Authority, that you be reduced in grade.
3. The reason for my contemplated action is: Misconduct for the following reason(s) – “DWI”, and causing a
multiple traffic accident consisting of three vehicles (Name Auto starting the chain of events) with Injuries
sustained, 23 July 2000 at 0118hrs on the military reservation of Ft Dix, New Jersey on Texas Avenue,
between Nassau and Augusta Streets.
4. The following are your rights:
a. You may request / decline to appear before a board, or you may appear in person with or without counsel at any
open proceedings.
b. You may be appointed military counsel, or you may retain civilian counsel at no expense to the Government.
Should you request counsel, contact the Office of the Legal Advisor at 609-530-7005.
c. The board will be composed of Unbiased soldiers without direct knowledge of the case. At least one member of
the Board will be appointed who is thoroughly familiar with your field of specialization.
d. You may request any reasonably available witnesses whose testimony is believed to be pertinent. You must
provide the nature of the information the witnesses are expected to provide.
e. You may submit to the board written affidavits and depositions of witnesses who do not appear. You may elect
to testify as a witness and submit to examination under oath, make or submit unsworn statements or remain silent.
f. You failure to exercise any of these rights is not a bar to the board’s proceedings, findings and
recommendations.
g. You have 30 Calendar days after receipt of this notification to request board action. Failure to respond within
30 calendar days constitutes a waiver of the right to a reduction board.
5. A government witness list will be provided to your counsel under separate cover by the Board Recorder prior to the
board proceedings. Should you elect to have witnesses appear on your behalf, the request will be forwarded to the
Office of the Legal Advisor, who will arrange for their appearance at this proceeding.
