DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY

MEMORANDUM FOR All Soldiers Assigned/Attached to the 110
th
Military Police
Company (Guard)
SUBJECT: 110
th
Military Police Company (Guard) Policy Letter No. 14 – Civilian
Education Opportunities
1. PURPOSE: To provide guidance to personnel that desire to attend college and/or
participate in the EarmyU program while stationed at Fort Hood.
2. APPLICABILITY: This policy applies to all Soldiers assigned/attached to the 110
th
Military Policy Company (Guard). This policy constitutes a direct order and violations
are punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
3. I encourage every Soldier and leader to take advantage of the opportunities
available to them in order to obtain the highest level of civilian education possible while
assigned to this unit.
4. I understand the requirements for a Soldier to participate in the EarmyU program
cannot be met at times because of ETS dates, etc. Additionally, a Soldier may wish to
physically attend a college class for the benefits of classroom participation. Whichever
your preference, the opportunity does exist for you to obtain college credits.
5. Civilian education remains essential for advancement while on active duty.
However, Soldiers that choose to separate from the Army also benefit from taking
advantage of civilian education. Therefore, I will make every effort to allow personnel to
pursue their college degree.
6. Personnel wishing to attend college:
a. Can be placed on a shift during law enforcement cycles that will allow them to
attend classes.
b. May be exempt from special duty rosters when conflicts with college classes
arise.
c. Will not be exempt from law enforcement duty or from field exercises, but every
attempt will be made to avoid conflicts with class schedules.
