1. REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE
This Directive reissues reference (a); establishes DoD policy and procedures on trial by
foreign courts and treatment in foreign prisons of United States military personnel,
nationals of the United States serving with, employed by, or accompanying the Armed
Forces of the United States, and the dependents of both (hereafter referred to as United
States personnel) and provides uniform reporting on the exercise of foreign criminal
jurisdiction.
2. APPLICABILITY
The provisions of this Directive apply to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the
Military Departments, and the Combatant Commands. As used herein, the term "Military
Services" refers to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marine Corps.
