Defense for Personnel and Readiness
Purpose: In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5124.02, this issuance establishes policy,
assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures concerning eligibility and requirements for receipt of
separation pay for Active and Reserve Component Service members who are involuntarily separated
from active duty or active service (AD/AS) in accordance with Section 1174 of Title 10, United States
Code (U.S.C.).
