Use/relationship: This Data Item Description (DID) provides the report of movement of
weapons record in the SASP. The SASP transaction is used to audit movement of weapons
recorded in the Department of Defense (DOD) Small Arms Central Registry. This program
controls all Small Arms defined as follows:
Handguns
Shoulder-fired weapons
Light Automatic weapons up to and including .50 caliber machine guns
Recoilless Rifles up to and including 106MM
Mortars up to and including 81MM
Rocket Launchers, man-portable
Grenade Launchers, rifle and shoulder fired
Individual operated weapons which are portable and/or can be fired without special
mounts or firing devices and which have potential use in civil disturbances or are
vulnerable to theft.
All weapons meeting this definition, regardless of origin, excluding weapons assigned to
classified activities will be reported. Included would be foreign and commercial
weapons, and museum pieces.
Small Arms, including those mounted in aircraft and vehicles will be reported, whether or not
assigned a stock number and/or serial number.
This DID contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data product resulting
from the work task described by the Scope of Work.
This DID supersedes DI-MISC-80914A, dated 7/24/1991.
Requirements:
1. Format. SASP transactions shall be 80 record positions.
2. Content. The SASP transaction content shall be in accordance with the following instructions:
