Purpose: In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5111.1, the November 30, 2006,
Deputy Secretary of Defense (DepSecDef) Memorandum, and the policy and guidance in DoD
Instruction (DoDI) 2000.21 and DoDI 3020.52, this issuance:
• Implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for the clearance of platforms
and materiel contaminated by CBR hazards.
• Prescribes clearance guidance for CBR hazard-contaminated or potentially CBR hazard-
contaminated platforms and materiel for unrestricted use.
