This mission directive (MD) implements policy and guidance in Air Force Instruction (AFI) 38-
601, Format and Content of Mission Directives, and AFI 38-101, Air Force Organization. It
delineates the mission, command relationships, and responsibilities of Air Force Reserve Combat
Communications Squadrons (CBCS). This MD applies to individuals assigned to Headquarters
Air Force Reserve Command (HQ AFRC). It does not apply to Regular Air Force or Air
National Guard units. Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this
publication are maintained in accordance with (IAW) Air Force Manual 33-363, Management of
Records, and disposed of IAW the Air Force Records Information Management System Records
Disposition Schedule. Contact supporting records managers as required. Refer recommended
changes and questions about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR)
using Air Force Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847
from the field through the appropriate functional chain of command. This publication may not
be supplemented or further implemented/extended. The authorities to waive wing/unit level
requirements in this publication are hereby identified as T-2. See AFI 33-360, Publications and
Forms Management, for a description of the authorities associated with the Tier numbers.
Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate Tier waiver
approval authority.

This publication has been substantially revised and needs to be completely reviewed. Major
changes include adding the waiver authority statement.
