3.1 These data are to be used to determine if excessive vibratory responses
exist within the system under consideration. A mathematical analysis is
performed to establish probable compliance with the prescribed acceptance
criteria. The system is tested to conf]rm that the vibratory responses are
within the acceptable criteria.

APPLICATION/ INTERRELATIONSHIP
7.1 This Data Item Description contains the format and content
preparation instructions for vibration testing and analysis of reciprocating
machinery, propulsion system and shafting to be conducted in accordance
with MIL-STD-167-2A.
7.2 This DID supersedes UDI-E-23116A.

0. PREPAPAIION INSTRUCTIONS
10.1 Reference Documents. The applicable issue of the documents cited
herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable
amendments, notices, and revisions shall be as specified in the contract.
10.2 Format. The report shall be in accordance with the contractor’s
format.
]0.3 Content Requirements. The reports shall include the following:
a. The vibration analysis shall consist of items stated in paragraphs
30.1.1.1, 30.2.1.1 and 30.3.1 of MIL-STD-167-2A, Appendix A.
b. The results of vibration testing shall be included and shall consist
of
items specified in paragraphs 30.1 and 30.2 of MIL-STD-167-
2A, Appendix B,
c. Vibratory stress, torque, load and deflection plots shall be
included and shall contain the au~rooriate MIL-STD-167-2A
limits, or the manufacturer’s lirn~ts, is applicable.
