SUBJECT: Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS)
References: See Enclosure 1
1. PURPOSE. This directive:
a. Reissues DoD Directive (DoDD) 8190.1 (Reference (a)) to establish the DLMS as the
DoD standard for transactional information exchanges among the automated information systems
(AISs) that comprise assigned business processes of the DoD logistics and global supply chain
management system.
b. Designates the Director, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), as the DoD Executive Agent
for DLMS in accordance with DoDD 5101.1 (Reference (b)).
c. Assigns responsibilities for the direction, management, and execution of the DLMS.
2. APPLICABILITY
a. This directive applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of
the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the
Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field
Activities, and all other organizational entities within the DoD (referred to collectively in this
directive as the “DoD Components”).
b. This directive may be adopted by the following organizations conducting logistics
business operations with DoD:
(1) Non-government organizations, both commercial and nonprofit.
(2) Non-DoD federal agencies of the U.S. Government and State and local government
entities.
(3) Foreign national governments.
